Goldman Sachs & Co, located in Irving TX, is seeking a Valuations Associate / VP to support the Realty Management division's Residential Mortgages Asset Management.

 

This position will be responsible for all valuation products reviews including, but not limited to AVMs, BPOs, 2055s, 1004s, Appraisal Desk Reviews, External Reconciliation products/services and 3rd party market data, and communicating to management the specific risk and benefits associated with such products. The successful candidate will also be responsible for integrating new valuation products and strategies into current processes and work flows. Additional duties will include recommending due diligence scopes to be performed; negotiating with, selecting and managing vendors selected to perform due diligence; assist with management of due diligence processes; assist in valuation discussions; reporting results while identifying issues and the impact of the issues; and recommending final loan pool populations.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate property valuation reviews on assets in acquisition, securitization, and other transactions: select diligence sample and prepare data files for vendors, analyze results returned.
  • Report issues and track until resolved; issue final reports identifying significant issues, resolutions, financial impact, etc.
  • Review monthly valuations set by vendors on existing portfolio, and identify and coordinate push-backs
  • Perform repurchase rebuttals and assist with Loss Mitigation valuation related reviews
  • On-going development and maintenance of the FNC-CMS application
  • Annual vendor on-site reviews
  • Assist with performing due diligence on new Sellers/Counterparties
  • Reviews of existing underwriting guidelines and recommend updates
  • Lend support and valuations expertise to other business lines within the firm
  • Support other Due Diligence departments, as needed
  • Actively participate in due diligence and independent valuations discussions with Internal and External Clients / Counterparties / Vendors / Trade Desk
  • Review existing underwriting guidelines and recommend updates and changes
  • Maintain quality work product in a trade-based and time-sensitive environment
  • Ensure departmental and corporate guidelines and objectives are achieved
  • Maintain awareness of residential market (value) trending and key indices and efficiently communicate these to internal and external clients, and vendors
  • Perform Quality Control on outsourced valuation products and services
  • Communicate the firm's goals and objectives
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining Key Performance Indicators for vendors
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Active appraisal credentials [or license(s)] preferred
  • Minimum five years of Real Estate and Appraisal fee/review experience
  • Exposure to secondary mortgage markets preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Excel
  • Have ability to suggest adjustment of policies and procedures to control risk and improve performance
  • Familiarity and practical knowledge of origination standards and guidelines
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills, and accomplished presentation skills
  • Must possess strong general mathematical skills and strong problem solving skills
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with ability to multi task
  • Must have ability to handle a fast-paced environment with minimum supervision
  • Must have ability to work extended hours as needed
