The principal function of the Legal Department’s Divisional Vendor Management Team (“DVMT”) is to ensure that the Legal Department’s Vendor Management Procedures are (i) current and aligned to the Firm’s overall Vendor Management Program, (ii) properly applied and enforced with regard to all vendors managed by the Legal Department. The Legal DVMT function is responsible for:

  • On-boarding of all new law firms and other vendors to be managed by the Legal Department
  • Maintaining accurate and up to date vendor profile information in the Firm’s Vendor Management Portal
  • Responding to Vendor Management Office (“VMO”) requests and guidance – ensuring that the Legal Vendor Management Procedures remain up to date and aligned with any Firmwide VMO Program developments
  • Partnering with the VMO and Technology Risk groups to schedule, execute, and manage, as appropriate, Vendor Information Security Reviews (“VISR”s)
  • Preparing quarterly updates to Legal Department management regarding the status of the Vendor Management program.
  • Liaising with the VMO on any vendor related issues and new/revised VMO program initiatives


Principal Responsibilities:


  • Core Responsibilities:
    • Develop and maintain ongoing processes to ensure that the day-to-day requirements of the Firmwide VMO Program are met by the Legal DVMT
    • Develop and maintain procedures, documentation and best practices necessary to demonstrate that all VMO Program requirements have been met efficiently and effectively
    • Coordinate VISR Program audits of law firms and other Legal Department vendors, including scheduling and attending review sessions; follow up with vendors to resolve open audit items, establish effective documentation procedures to ensure open items are addressed in a timely manner
    • Partner with the VMO on program updates and enhancements; participate in periodic VMO meetings to review program status and open issues
    • Evaluate new vendor requests to assist in determining need, risk tiering, and potential VISR requirements
    • Assist in periodic reviews of vendor population; assist in convergence/reduction analysis, with focus on documentation requirements for any offboarding or changes in vendor status


Open position is at the associate level.


In order to be successful in this position, candidates must be able to:


  • Advance strategic direction of the Vendor Management Program through effective project/process management and prioritization of Legal DVMT deliverables
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of seniority within GS, and with external vendor contacts
  • Work effectively with personnel in different office locations and in different time zones
  • Manage and maintain the accuracy of large amounts of data
  • Create and maintain accurate records of VISR audits and status of follow ups
  • Establish and maintain effective documentation regarding all Legal DVMT activities


Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Technology background a plus
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with law firm operations a plus, but not required
  • Strong Excel/Microsoft Office skills
