Marquee Engineering – Scrum Master


The Marquee team at Goldman Sachs is responsible for delivering digital products to our institutional client base. We design and build highly scalable web platforms that provide access to Goldman Sachs content, portfolio analytics, risk, and execution services. Marquee is a product driven team, composed of talented and passionate product managers, designers, and engineers working to change the expectation of institutional finance.


The Scrum Master will serve Marquee development teams and product managers by owning the Agile software development life cycle process. This will entail the following responsibilities:

  • Facilitating Scrum events and other ad-hoc meetings for teams.
  • Assisting Product Owners in story writing, backlog maintenance and prioritization and planning.
  • Serve as your teams’ information radiator, harnessing open communication as the effective force, which makes a team effective and focused; and representing the team to senior management, stakeholders and sponsors.
  • Can effectively utilize metrics and data visualization to report progress and support data-driven decision making.
  • Teach and facilitate estimation and planning both at the team and organizational level. Assist in creating useful, reliable and practical plans for delivery sprints and releases.
  • Coach and mentor developer, designer and product team members in Agile practices, values and principles.
  • Help team or individual to clarify goals and actions to achieve them.
  • Shield their team from outside distractions, context switching and interferences.
  • Track and remove impediments.





  • Three-year’s experience as a Scrum Master for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.
  • Knowledge of other approaches in the Agile space: Kanban, Lean, SAFe, etc
  • Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games, etc.
  • Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.
  • Experience applying a wide variety of well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to communication anywhere from the team level to C-level executives.



  • Second or Third level Scrum Master certification (PSM II, PSM III, CSP, CTC)
  • Experience being the Scrum Master for at least five years for a software development team.
  • Experience being on multiple Scrum teams in a variety of different contexts (different team sizes, different organizations, different cultures, co-located vs. distributed, etc.)
  • Track record of continued and recent education in Scrum and Agile, including training, conferences, user groups, self-study, etc. An active participant in the Agile and Product professional community.
  • Excellent teaching and mentoring skills
