Real Estate Financing Group (REFG)

REFG’s Capital Markets desk is responsible for the syndication, securitization, structuring, pricing, and risk management components of our Commercial Real Estate (CRE) loan origination business. The desk strategist will be responsible for building out and maintaining quantitative models, data pipelines and technological infrastructure that will enhance the desk’s business workflows, analytical ability and decision making. The strategist will also be responsible for reducing error and improving efficiency of daily processes like risk reporting, marking and P&L tracking through automation.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Role Responsibilities 

  • Develop and maintain quantitative models used in pricing and structuring of new deals being originated by the desk.
  • Understand every aspect of the securitization process and identify areas and processes that can be made efficient through automation.
  • Build quantitative models as part of the risk management framework used for calculating and reporting the daily credit and interest rate risks.
  • Enhance the analysis platform used for bidding on new conduit pool loans, as well as large Single Asset Single Borrower (SASB) loans.
  • Build and maintain the technological infrastructure to automate daily activities like marking existing positions, P&L calculation and risk reporting.

Basic Qualifications

  • Academic background in a quantitative field, such as engineering, computer science, mathematics or physics
  • Meaningful work experience and interest in coding in an OOPL like C++, Java or Python
  • Strong quantitative skills with knowledge of fixed income mathematics and interest in financial markets
  • Entrepreneurial team player with exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
