Work Schedule: 40 hours per week (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)
Duties: Associate with Goldman, Sachs & Co. LLC in New York, NY. Perform accounting and financial control functions related to the balance sheet and revenue impact to the Firm from its Merchant Banking business (Principal Investments). Fully engage in the day-to-day reporting and closing process, such as: daily P&L (profit & loss) and Balance Sheet estimates and distribution of daily / weekly P&L reports; monthly management balance sheet and P&L reports; data submissions for SEC and regulatory filings/disclosures related to MBD business; recording and maintaining books and records of investment related transactions (P&L, purchases and sales, valuation adjustments) and preparation of supporting documentation; Capital Statement reconciliations from investment carry values to MBD Funds Financial Statements; and handling Legal Entity Controller (LEC) responsibilities for consolidated investment vehicles / SPVs. Participate in the maintenance and adaptation of strong control processes for all functions performed by the team. Responsible for high level issues and discussions to resolution. Work on ad-hoc requests and projects related to management requests of analysis and various financial reports. Involved with accounting policy related discussion and deal reviews.
Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (US or foreign equivalent) in Accounting or Finance. Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or a related role. Must have experience: working in a fast paced deadline-based, multi-task environment within a large financial organization; utilizing various core accounting and tax principles in a professional setting; analyzing and reconciling the P&L and Balance Sheet activity of various investments; communicating findings based on research and analysis performed; researching and analyzing various regulatory filing requirements; reviewing and analyzing investing structures, including private funds, blocker entities, and SPVs (special purpose vehicles); reviewing fund level partnership agreements; utilizing Microsoft Office Suite to work on complex spreadsheets with vlookup, sumif, and pivot tables. CPA Required.
