    Operational Risk Management and Analysis

    The Operational Risk Management and Analysis (ORMA) department is a part of the Goldman Sachs Risk Division. ORMA an independent risk management function responsible for developing and implementing a standardized framework to identify, measure, and monitor and operational risk across the firm.




    Operational Risk Specialist

    The Electronic Trading Specialist role requires a professional with deep subject matter expertise in electronic trading and strong analytical skills. Must be an energetic self-starter who can interact with senior business and technology partners.



    • Developing and implementing a firmwide risk management strategy, framework, and approach across electronic trading businesses and underlying controls
    • Monitoring and assessing risks across various asset classes and the related business flows, controls, and software components used to conduct electronic trading
    • Devising innovative risk management solutions and tools with robust metrics and risk indicators
    • Proactively identifying trends or developments that may materially impact the electronic trading risk threshold
    • Reporting control weaknesses and emerging risks based on internal or external incident
    • Assessing policies and procedures used to govern and manage electronic trading risks
    • Adhering strictly to compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with company and regulatory standards, policies, and practices


    • Strong product knowledge and experience in electronic trading of Equities or Fixed Income products
    • Exposure to trading flows and functional understanding of software components, specifically algorithms and order routers - either as a trader, strategist, risk manager, or technologist
    • Understanding of market structure, rules/regulations, and trading control frameworks
    • Technical and quantitative aptitude to be able to identify and quantify operational risks and exposures
    • Strong relationship builder and is able to liaise across all levels of business and technology teams, including senior management and governance structures, across all regions
    • Self-starter who can work independently and proactively with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to present with impact and influence.
    • Ability to challenge current thinking and suggest ideas of how to improve results
    • Strong project management and the ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently
    • Experience with database queries and analytical tools preferred (e.g. Tableau, SQL, Slang)
    • Familiarity with software development life cycle (SDLC) framework and controls
