    The Operational Risk Management and Analysis Department, an independent risk management function, is responsible for developing and implementing a standardized framework to identify, measure, and monitor and operational risk across the firm.  


    This Operational Risk Coverage role is for a professional with deep consumer finance subject matter expertise dedicated to actively employing and strengthening the components of the firm’s operational risk management framework.  This role will be responsible to continuously identify, monitor, measure and assess operational risk for the Consumer business. Consumer, externally known as Marcus by Goldman Sachs, is comprised of the firm’s digitally-led consumer businesses, which include our deposits and lending businesses, as well as our personal financial management app, Clarity Money.   


    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Identify operational risks including new and emerging risks to which Consumer is exposed
    • Identify, maintain and analyze risk measures targeting key consumer finance risks such as consumer compliance, fraud, third party management, cybersecurity, and technology operational risk  
    • Establishment and maintenance of a qualitative/quantitative business level operational risk appetite/tolerance with associated metrics, monitoring, triggers, escalation and mitigating actions
    • Conduct scenario analysis, develop and maintain a library of case studies to assess tail risk use for capital and stress testing activities
    • Facilitate operational risk event and data collection; perform detailed reviews of trends in the business to identify significant risks and ensure monitoring/remediation
    • New Activity review – ensure operational risks arising from new products and/or business, migrations, etc. are properly considered
    • Exercising credible and effective challenge as a second line of defense, strengthening the risk and control framework and its individual components
    • Remain current on business drivers, regulatory and industry changes impacting the business
    • Contribute to the advancement of operational risk methods and practices and the operational risk management framework

    This role requires an energetic self-starter that can liaise with various business and federation teams both regionally and globally.  Solid experience and prudent knowledge in the firm’s business flows, products and control requirements are required together with strong interpersonal and analytical skills for this role.


    • Strong financial product and business acumen, including experience with consumer lending or deposit products
    • 3+ years of relevant experience, either working in operational risk, consumer compliance, or in a consumer finance business
    • Experience with fraud risk management, process improvement, issue management, or business continuity/capacity planning experience
    • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and relevant industry standards, including, among others, the Truth in Lending Act (Reg Z), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (Reg B), Fair Credit Reporting Act (Reg V), PCI Compliance, and/or SOC reporting
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills – able to present with impact and influence
    • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, with a strong delivery focus
    • Strong organizational skills (project management experience a plus)
    • Proficiency in Excel (pivots, VLookups) and PowerPoint
    • Possess a Bachelor's Degree
