    BACKGROUND

    Launched in March 2018, GS Accelerate is a firmwide initiative to foster innovation and collaboration at Goldman Sachs.  The Accelerate program provides our people with the capital, resources and support to build new businesses and products, with a focus on the firm’s future growth. The businesses we fund will focus on building strategic advantages for GS, while offering employees the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

     

    The Accelerate program sits within the Executive Office, reporting into the Chief Strategy Officer.

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

     

     

    IMPACT

    The individual will play a critical role in the management, growth, strategy and execution of the Accelerate program.

     

    The individual will contribute to efforts around program management and expansion; Accelerate and portfolio company reporting, budgeting and key metric tracking; new business incubation and development; and becoming an ambassador for the program internally and externally. 

     

    Working in a small team, with broad firmwide reach and impact, the individual will interact regularly with senior divisional and firm leadership.

     

    The individual will report to the Head of GS Accelerate.

     

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILTIES

    • Become an expert in the Accelerate playbook – strategy, purpose, methodology, processes and tools
    • Assist in the discovery of and investment in new business opportunities, incubation and management of existing portfolio companies, and marketing of the Accelerate program internally and externally
    • Ensure portfolio companies follow their execution and governance plan to meet financial and operational milestones, focusing on long-term success over short-term achievements
    • Help define and refine Accelerate processes

    REPRESENTATIVE PROJECTS

    • Portfolio overview and Accelerate program updates to GS C-suite and senior stakeholders
    • Management Committee and GS Board communications
    • Develop framework for investment memos, board updates, application and evaluation materials for new business submissions, and financial reporting and tracking system for Accelerate program and portfolio companies
    • Project management for Accelerate re-launches

    EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING FOR

    • 1-3 years of relevant experience, including:
    • Demonstrated experience or interest in with startup technologies, venture investing, entrepreneurship, corporate innovation or developing new businesses
    • Self-starter. Ability to lead and execute projects autonomously; ability to think strategically and implement tactically
    • Strong organizational and multitasking skills; ability to deal with ambiguity / rapid change
    • Strong analytical, quantitative and technical abilities related to finance, and ideally venture investing
    • Strong written and oral communication skills with confidence and ability to interact effectively with senior firm leaders
    • Thrive in a small team, startup environment
