Work Schedule: 40 hours per week (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)
Duties: Associate with Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in New York, NY. Construct and maintain company and industry financial models across Asset Managers, Exchanges, Brokers, and Trust Banks. Monitor key macro trends for covered sectors. Utilize advanced research analysis tools, such as FactSet, Haver, Thomson Reuters, and Bloomberg, Morningstar, Simfund, Dealogic and eVestment among others, to access and analyze market data and key elements of tracking company performance necessary to understand and form investment views for our sectors. Analyze sectors and stocks to generate investment opportunities. Develop investment framework and perform analysis to aid in developing an investment view on stocks. Forecast financials (earnings, cash flows) and value the equity through various valuation methodologies and set price targets for covered companies. Interact with investor relations contacts and senior management of covered companies. Prepare written reports that highlight the Firm’s latest views on the team’s covered industries, which involves interacting across various sector and geographic teams on collaborative and thematic research. Respond to requests for bespoke quantitative analysis from external clients and other teams on the team’s investment ideas and sector views. Interact (reactively and proactively) with clients, sales force and traders to discuss the team’s views on the covered sectors and our investment ideas. Mentor and train junior team members.
Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Finance or Accounting. [Will accept single degree or combination of degrees/certifications and/or professional experience that are equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree.] Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or in a related role. Prior work experience must include three (3) years with: Sell or Buy-side equity research, specifically covering all of the following sectors: Asset Managers, Brokers, Trust Banks, and Exchanges; utilizing understanding of accounting and finance principles, including ability to fluently read and understand company financial statements (8-K, 10Q, 10K); constructing company and industry financial models and performing valuation analysis (including relative multiples, discounted cash flows) to determine the fair value of a company/security; analyzing the competitive landscape for companies in Asset Management, Brokers, Trust Banks, and Exchanges; utilizing knowledge of statistical techniques and general macro modeling to conduct analysis to identify and test the efficacy of broad themes and specific ideas and analyze trends; conducting financial statement analysis and financial modeling for companies in Asset Management, Brokers, Trust Banks and Exchanges; utilizing in-depth knowledge of the U.S. financial markets to quickly find and analyze information made available by public corporations; developing and maintaining financial models for covered companies; experience with complex financial modelling within Excel; utilizing valuation and modeling skills to develop an appropriate cost of capital, absolute valuation methodologies (DCF, FCF), calculation of returns on investment, sensitivity analysis, debt and leverage analysis using Excel; interacting with investor relations contacts and senior management; interacting with clients, equities sales force and traders to provide investment views on sectors and companies; and experience with creating industry and company specific reports and presentations within Word and Powerpoint. Must have experience with: Asset Management, Brokers, Exchanges, and Trust Banks industries; financial modeling and valuation analysis of Asset Management, Brokers, Exchanges, and Trust Banks; operating and maintaining proprietary databases based on inputs from data providers such as Morningstar, Dealogic, and eVestment, among others; detailed financial writing aimed at communicating company specific thesis to investors supported by financial analysis and valuation within sectors; relationship with management teams of covered companies and other industry contacts; and strong relationships with investors in Asset Management, Brokers, Exchanges, and Trust Banks. FINRA Series 7, 63, and 87 licenses required. Certifications: CFA Charter Holder required. Travel required 10% of the time to attend company and client meetings and industry events.
