    Vice President with Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in New York, NY.

     

    Work Schedule: 40 hours per week (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

    Duties: Vice President with Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in New York, NY. Play a lead role in conducting primary due diligence for high-growth public and private companies across various sectors with a focus on consumer retail, technology, industrials and media sectors, including, but not limited to, operational, financial, competitive, customer and supplier diligence. Identify key business drivers, building and reviewing detailed and robust operational, financial and econometric models and valuation frameworks using various methodologies leading to investment decisions. Perform extensive analyses of industry, total addressable market, cohort data, and company specific events such as regulatory change, mergers & acquisitions, spin-offs, quarterly/ annual results to evaluate impact on existing and prospective investments. Structure transactions (including: leverage, downside protection provisions, shareholder rights). Negotiate valuation and terms of an investment with CEOs/CFOs, other members of management teams, creditors and private equity/hedge fund sponsors Interact with company senior management (incl. CEO, CFO etc.) and private equity sponsors, to source and diligence new investment ideas. Prepare and present detailed presentations for investment committee and board of directors meetings and position/ portfolio updates. Build proprietary valuation screening tools using applications such as Cap IQ, Bloomberg, Crunchbase and Pitchbook. Must be willing to work with proprietary investment modeling and screening tools, but no knowledge of proprietary tools is required pre-hire.

     

    Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Business Management, Finance, an Engineering specialty, Mathematics, Economics or a related field. Five (5) years of experience in the job offered or related position using valuation skills across public and private companies in different sectors. Must have five (5) years of experience with: Leading investment due diligence across many sectors on private and public companies including building operational, financial and econometric models, assessing management teams, conducting expert interviews, and conducting multi-channel marketing efficiency assessments; Conducting primary market research and analyzing data using techniques, including conjoint analysis, customer cohort analysis, total addressable market analysis, cluster analysis, and customer segmentation; Mapping market landscapes and assessing competition across key variables including unit economics, cost of customer acquisition, revenue, and EBITDA (Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization); Demonstrating corporate finance knowledge across many sectors both in private and public markets and utilizing accounting methodologies, including acquisition accounting, deferred tax accounting, Net Operating Losses (NOLs), stock compensation, recapitalization, calculation of trading multiples and operating ratios; Performing complex MS Excel modeling skills and creating robust valuation models for public and private companies, utilizing methodologies including: leveraged buyout modeling, discounted cash flow, relative value, and sum of the parts, leading to critical investment decisions; Communicating with senior members of management teams (CEO, CFO etc.), investors, industry experts/ consultants to conduct business diligence and source investment ideas and opportunities; Structuring transactions in equity and debt securities, both in public and private markets; and Developing valuation screenings tools using data providers, including Bloomberg and Capital IQ to source public and private investment ideas. Travel required: Up to 20% for meetings with prospective companies and for conferences.
