Job Summary & Responsibilities
The Securities Division enables our clients to buy and sell financial products, raise funding and manage risk. We make markets and facilitate client transactions in fixed income, equity, currency and commodity products. In addition, we make markets in and clear client transactions on major stock, options and futures exchanges worldwide. Through our global sales force, we maintain relationships with our clients, receiving orders and distributing investment research, trading ideas, market information and analysis.
The Commodities business helps clients manage risk across a range of commodities and our clients include corporations, investors, commodity trading houses and other financial institutions.
The Energy sales desk works with a range of corporate clients primarily located across North America in order to help them manage price risks associated with energy products. The team works in conjunction with trading to price and execute transactions involving financial derivatives and physical commodities.
An analyst on the commodities sales desk has various responsibilities while working extensively with customers and supporting the internal sales team. Analyst responsibilities range from updating customers on day to day movements in the market to performing statistical analysis to executing trades. Commodities sales analysts are expected to be well informed about the markets, proficient with our internal tools and be able to successfully articulate views to our customers. Facility with math and the ability to analyze new information quickly is essential. In all cases, analysts must possess a keen desire to learn. As the commodities markets are uniquely impacted by world events, sales analysts should be inquisitive about the political and economic climate and understand how geopolitical events impact our markets. Sales analysts have the opportunity to earn responsibility quickly. By staying on top of the market and leveraging internal resources around you, commodities sales analysts are in a unique position to gain client exposure in a challenging market at a very early stage in their career.
