Our Bank Loan Syndicate Execution Team is looking for a high performing Analyst that is looking to be challenged and after an opportunity to support the Investment Banking Division.

OUR IMPACT

The Bank Loans Syndicate Execution team is responsible for successfully executing IBD originated loan transactions from the inception of the deal mandate through to its closing. The team provides full front-to-back operational support across both our Institutional Leveraged Loans business, as well as our IBD relationship lending business.

The team work directly alongside Leveraged Finance and Leveraged Finance Capital Markets & Syndicate to successfully execute Institutional Leveraged Term Loans – often used to finance LBO/M&A projects or as part of a refinancing undertaking. The team coordinate all operational aspects of these syndicated loan deals from the bid/commitment stage through to closing, with a particular focus on the book building, allocation, and pricing process. The team also works directly with Investment Grade Syndicate to execute bridge facilities.

In the IBD relationship lending space, the team provides thorough operational support on our corporate banking/pro rata secured debt book managed by the Relationship Lending Group. These loans are mainly comprised of revolving credit facilities and amortizing term loans. The team again manages all the operational aspects of the loan from our commitment through to close.

Our team members play a vital role in upholding the three Operations principles of client focus, process innovation, and risk management.

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL

• Perform key control and operational risk management functions pertaining to loan products originated by the Investment Banking Division. This will include Institutional Loans across both the Leveraged Finance and Investment Grade Financing Group, as well as relationship loans extended by IBD.
• Liaise with both internal parties (such as the Leveraged Finance Financing Group, Investment Grade Financing Group, Syndicate, Relationship Loans Group, Legal & Compliance) and external parties (such as Administrative Agents, Borrowers and Attorneys) throughout the deal lifecycle of the loan.
• Review executed commitment and closing documentation and perform operational controls to ensure risk is accurately booked and captured in risk booking / servicing systems.
• Monitor and assist in the reconciliation of breaks, discrepancies and report monitoring.
• Operational oversight over various aspects of the loan book-running process which relies on heavy interaction with Syndicate, Banking, and Controllers
• Manage your own portfolio of deals, ensuring all operational aspects of each deal are correct and complete through the deal lifecycle, from commitment to closing.
• Operationally risk manage any long / short loan facility positions on the LevFin Syndicate book.
• Participate in IBD Operations initiatives to drive business unit strategy forward.
• Flash P&L and work closely with Controllers to ensure risk is reflected accurately.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING FOR / BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Undergraduate degree
• A minimum of 12 months’ relevant experience (preferably in a Middle Office role, strong bank loans knowledge would also be valuable)
• Proven ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment. The applicant must be able to demonstrate successful prior work experience in a short deadline driven setting. Having a sense of urgency is essential.
• Solid understanding of primary and secondary debt capital markets. Understanding of the Leveraged Finance market in particular would be preferred.
• As a self-starter, the applicant should be a highly organized individual, with a strong work ethic, that prioritizes attention to detail and following matters through to completion.
• Ability to effectively and extensively interact with all levels (from entry level analysts through to managing directors) and different personalities. Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are key.
• Ability to think critically and creatively about process improvement to ensure we are adapting to meet the needs of the business, firm, and our clients.
• Proven demonstration of client service focus and ability to build relationships across different levels, functions and regions.
• Strong problem solving skills. The applicant should be comfortable being responsible for finding solutions to complex issues in high pressure, time constrained situations.
• A broad understanding of operational functions and their influence on the deal lifecycle.
