    CONSUMER AND INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT DIVISION (CIMD)

    The Consumer and Investment Management Division includes Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM), Private Wealth Management (PWM) and our Consumer business (Marcus by Goldman Sachs). We provide asset management, wealth management and banking expertise to consumers and institutions around the world. CIMD partners with various teams across the firm to help individuals and institutions navigate changing markets and take control of their financial lives.

    BUSINESS OVERVIEW

     

    The Alternative Investments & Manager Selection (AIMS) Group provides investors with investment and advisory solutions, across leading hedge fund managers, private equity funds, real estate managers, public equity strategies and fixed income strategies. The AIMS Group manages globally diversified programs, targeted sector-specific strategies, customized portfolios, and a range of advisory services. Our investors access opportunities through new fund commitments, fund-of-fund investments, strategic partnerships, secondary-market investments, co-investments, and seed-capital investments. With over 200 professionals across eight offices around the world, the AIMS Group provides manager diligence, portfolio construction, risk management, and liquidity solutions to investors, drawing on Goldman Sachs' market insights and risk management expertise. We extend these global capabilities to the world's leading sovereign wealth funds, pension plans, governments, financial institutions, endowments, foundations, and family offices, for which we invest or advise on over $150 billion of alternative investments, public equity strategies and fixed income strategies.

    The AIMS Platform Management team is responsible for portfolio implementation and trading, liquidity management, executing equity and currency hedging programs, manager on-boarding, producing in-depth performance analyses, overseeing the business control framework as well as a number of important strategic initiatives. The team works closely with the investment and client portfolio solutions areas within AIMS, and with functional teams across the broader firm including Central Trading, Fund Accounting, Operations, Technology, Legal and Compliance

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Key contributor to the Manager On-boarding function which is responsible for AIMS business operations that involve and impact external investment managers. This includes management of products and platforms and maintaining constructive relationships with external managers. Manager Onboarding is a dedicated team within AIMS Platform Management
    • Significant interaction with senior members across AIMS investment and client teams, GSAM Federation and external investment managers. 
    • Material time will be spent engaging with external manager COOs, CFOs, and GCs which requires a deep understanding of the manager strategies, operations and market dynamics as well as AIMS and GSAM capabilities, needs and contractual obligations
    • Execute and manage contractual negotiations with external investment managers.  This would include negotiation of investment management agreements, investment guidelines and trading lines, as required 
    • Responsibility for operational onboarding of external investment managers to AIMS products and platforms.  This! individual over time will be charged with ownership for the complete operational lifecycle for designated products and platforms.  A working understanding of asset manager trading operations is required, which will quickly evolve into a comprehensive understanding
    • In-depth partnership with the AIMS investment team to design and execute AIMS portfolio trade events
    • Participation in AIMS client onboarding activities.  Particular focus and ownership for the Manager Onboarding aspects of new and existing client engagements

      ·         Play a key role in product management activities with a focus on profitability, efficiency and scalability

      ·         Partner with various AIMS teams in evaluating investment opportunities and platforms

      ·         Active engagement with external investment managers' on regulation impacting AIMS platform and products. Successful engagement requires a strong understanding of the asset management regulatory landscape and impact to investment strategies.

      ·         Active involvement in AIMS-wide projects 

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • At least 5 years overall experience in a relevant role.  Preferred 3+ years in private equity or asset management
    • A working understanding of counterparty legal and risk terms and core components of asset management contracts is important.  If not an existing competency, desire and ability to learn quickly is required
    • Desire to develop an in-depth understanding of investment structures and platforms, market strategies, instruments traded and AIMS and external manager operations

      ·          Demonstrated orientation toward managing time sensitive and business critical initiatives and negotiations

      ·          Strong interpersonal, analytical and communication skills
    •  Demonstrated technical capabilities
    • Detail oriented

      ·         Strong organizational skills to oversee production of a high volume of quality work within tight timeframes

      ·         Ability to lead and work effectively as part of a team

      ·         Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Experience in technology projects is a plus​
