The Position

The Structured Finance Group within the Investment Banking Division in New York is looking for an associate with current investment banking (or related financing) experience to join the team.

The Structured Credit Financing Group (“SCFG”) works with clients to finance assets, businesses and risks within their overall business.  The desk offers specialized client coverage, new asset class monetization, strategic financing, multi-sector product and structuring expertise, principal commitment and capital markets insight, complex deal execution and several opportunities for dialogue with thought-leading investors.  The desks recent deals include: Wireless spectrum financing, Cross-border asset-backed financing LBO, cross-border real estate financing, back-leverage transactions, consumer loan warehouse facilities for early stage Fintech companies, etc.

The desk provides opportunity for interaction with groups across the firm globally, along with a wide exposure to a breadth of activities and deal types.



The associate role in SCFG combines many of the features of classic investment banking, principal investing and sales and trading.  Associate leverage existing modeling, client relationship skills and develop new business generation skills.  Associates in SCFG are integral member of small, dynamic teams and will be actively involved in managing transaction processes, leading junior analysts, developing models and analyses, and working across different coverage teams on a variety of projects simultaneously.  Associates have opportunities to engage with clients, get exposure to GS leadership and develop significant product knowledge while building a broad skill set in a short period of time.

Associates will work closely with senior bankers in preparing written and oral presentations, running asset and financing analysis, developing credit information for ratings agencies and investors, reviewing legal and other offering documents, and assisting in the valuation and financing associated with M&A, LBO and asset sale transactions.


Expertise and Skills:

Basic Qualifications

• Candidate must have completed an undergraduate degree and be available to start immediately (subject to any notice period required by their current employer, if applicacable)

• Current experience as an investment banking analyst / associate


Preferred Qualifications / Qualities

• Modeling and financial analysis expertise

• Experience of working on complex transactions

• Ability to form independent judgments and move transactions forward

• Self-starter with an entrepreneurial attitude

• Strong analytical and quantitative skills

• Good presentation / communication skills with ability to effectively interact with groups across divisions (e.g., traders, sales, classic bankers)

• Ability to balance multiple tasks and projects simultaneously

• Demonstrate attention to detail

• Drive and enthusiasm with a team orientation
