MORE ABOUT THIS JOB

Global Markets Division

Our core value is building strong relationships with our institutional clients, which include corporations, financial service providers, and fund managers. We help them buy and sell financial products on exchanges around the world, raise funding, and manage risk. This is a dynamic, entrepreneurial team with a passion for the markets, with individuals who thrive in fast-paced, changing environments and are energized by a bustling trading floor.

WHAT WE DO

The FX Payments Engineering team plays a central role in enabling foreign currency payments on the firm’s new Transaction Banking (TxB) offering. The team is creating a brand new Cloud based microservice architecture, which leverages the firm’s FX edealing capabilities for liquidity, whilst also orchestrating numerous other FX payment lifecycle stages.

The Commercial Banking business unit aims to provide comprehensive cash management solutions for corporations, of which a Global Payment capability is a key part of the offering. We are actively building out FX features, where the technical roadmap will continue to be driven by client requirements and further industrialization of the offering. The software the team is creating has an immediate and direct impact on the success of the Global Payments business.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

Goldman Sachs Engineers are innovators and problem-solvers, building solutions in risk management, big data, mobile and more. We look for creative collaborators who evolve, adapt to change, and thrive in a fast-paced global environment. The FX Payments team brings the FX expertise of the Securities Division into the Consumer and Commercial Banking (CCBD) space, which is applying innovative solutions to traditional banking activities.

We want team members who feel a strong sense of ownership and naturally look to understand all aspects of the software which we’re creating. We are continually risk assessing our platform, and champion transparency to ensure issues don’t go untracked. We value thoroughness and attention to detail, to maintain a culture of high quality delivery. We foster an open, inclusive and supportive atmosphere within the team, where ideas and discussion are encouraged.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

As part of the FX development team you will be responsible for the specification, development, testing, delivery and support of our new FX Payment orchestration platform. You would become familiar and contribute to the evolution of all aspects of the FX payment software offering, including the roles and general function of all FX microservices, build and deployment infrastructure, integrations with the broader TxB platform, and control considerations.

Our mission is to build a robust FX capability for the growing payment platform that meets our corporate client's needs. Our goal is to build a highly scalable, resilient and available cloud-based FX payment capability that our corporate clients can rely on to run and expand their businesses.

THE ROLE

As a Senior Developer in the FX Payments Engineering team you will be expected to drive the design of critical FX payment services as well as oversee the implementation of new features, focusing on code quality, automation and testability. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the vision, understand our product roadmap and contribute to building an engineering culture within our global team.

You will be responsible for mentoring and developing more junior technical talents. Our flat structure requires and enables team members to evolve through the entire spectrum of the software life-cycle and closely collaborate with product owners, business and operations users.

Strong communication skills are key, we expect you to constructively volunteer reasoned views and opinions in different team forums, both technically but also on how we’re performing as an Agile team. Where differing views arise we’d expect you to help bring about consensus. You would create close relationships with other teams in the Securities and Transaction Banking areas of the firm.

You must have a proficient understanding of software development concepts and be hands on with implementation of new features. A good understanding of Cloud and Container concepts would be ideal. You will also be responsible for developing easy to support software and liaise with the SRE team to factor in their requirements. In summary, we are looking for someone with energy who enjoys engineering challenges, and has a passion to deliver high quality technology solutions.
