Team Overview


The Financing Commitments Group (FCG) is a part of the Relationship Lending Group (RLG) who are collectively responsible for underwriting, structuring, executing and advising on relationship based lending facilities and certain other financing transactions requiring a capital commitment from Goldman Sachs.  Types of transactions can include unsecured revolvers, secured revolvers (ABLs and Borrowing Base facilities, term loans, delayed draw term loans, bridge loans, and letter of credit facilities in the context of primary loan syndication, refinancing, amendments, and secondary markets purchase and bilateral lending.


Members of the FCG & RLG work closely with various teams within the broader Transaction Execution & Risk Management Group (TERM) as well as:

  • Syndication banks, borrowers and external legal counsel
  • Investment Banking, Investment Grade Capital Markets, Leveraged Finance, Legal and Credit Risk





The Analyst/Associate will work as an integral member of the team with a focus on the underwriting process including:

  • Managing internal capital committee process for relationship loans and other lending transactions, taking the lead on gathering transaction details, researching relevant companies / industries, authoring committee memos and obtaining necessary approvals
  • Providing quantitative and qualitative credit risk analysis, including assessment of leverage and pro forma capital structures, identification and mitigation of potential transaction concern, and industry considerations.
  • Synthesizing significant amounts of information into concise presentations for a senior audience
  • Working closely with various teams across IBD, Investment Grade Debt Capital Markets, Leveraged Finance, Credit Risk Management, Business Intelligence Group, Treasury, Compliance and Legal to ensure client deadlines are met, and relationships are maintained
  • Conducting and preparing review of terms, covenants and conditions for revolving credit facilities, term loans and bridge loan facilities
  • Conducting scenario and sensitively analysis of potential terms and business cases of our clients to ensure adequate and optimal use of firm’s capital when making commitments.
  • Presenting lending thesis at weekly capital committee meetings to the firm’s senior bankers and Chief Underwriting Officers and ensure all necessary follow-ups are completed promptly


Preferred skills and qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree in Economics / Finance / Accounting related discipline is preferable
  • Proficient understanding of financial markets and corporate financial analysis including 18 months – 4 years of relevant financial services experience
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and analytical skills
  • Solid attention to detail and commitment to delivering a high-quality work product
  • Ability to manage time effectively and manage multiple work streams
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to meet transaction timelines
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and integrity
  • Must work well under pressure and have a positive attitude
