Work Schedule: 40 hours per week (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)
Duties: Vice President with Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in New York, New York. Structuring, pricing and executing derivative and physical power transactions for the power and gas market to support client franchise activity around retail generation and power marketers. Managing price risk and profit and loss from market moves in power markets. Understanding power and gas market fundamentals and trends and working closely with origination team in sales to support client demand. Conducting in-depth market analysis related to Power industry trends and client trading activity. Modelling forward looking fundamentals of the power market to facilitate long-dated client transactions. Developing risk management strategies on as-generated wind and solar risks. Monitoring power generation and supply stack shifts to capitalize on synergies between the Texas natural gas and power business. Managing on-going commodity risks post-trade execution in an illiquid market with high franchise activity. Updating senior management on risks and profit and loss.
Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (US or foreign equivalent) in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or a related field. Seven (7) years of experience in the job offered or a related role in power and gas markets. Prior experience must include five (5) years of experience with: Applying power and gas market fundamentals to structure, price and execute financial transactions; Performing data analysis using MS Excel and Bloomberg; Experience with Heat Rate Options, Hourly-Shaped deals, new Pricing, Risk and P/L sheets; Utilizing VBA Macros models to build models and automate processes on the desk; and Working with Exotic Option Structures and Swaps, specific to the Power Options Trading industry. Prior experience must include three (3) years of experience with: Managing price risk in Texas power and gas markets; Structuring, pricing and executing derivative and physical power transactions in Texas power markets; Modeling long-term fundamentals for power markets; and Structuring transactions in line with Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). Prior experience must include two (2) years of experience with developing risk management strategies for wind and solar risks.
