The Merchant Banking Division (“MBD”) within Goldman Sachs (“GS”) is a $140 billion alternatives investment platform with strategies across equity, credit, and real estate investing. The Energy and Infrastructure team manages $9 billion of equity investments across both corporate equity funds, infrastructure funds as well as the GS balance sheet. This team takes a highly differentiated, holistic approach to energy and infrastructure investing and evaluates opportunities across sectors including, renewable energy, clean technology and decarbonization, traditional oil & gas, conventional power generation, industrial / essential services, transportation, and telecommunications. Access to multiple pockets of capital allows the team to evaluate a wide range of risk / return profiles and investment types, including leveraged buyouts, management build-ups, greenfield projects, growth capital and structured securities.
The private equity strategy of MBD is currently investing from a ~$7 billion corporate equity fund and ~$3 billion infrastructure fund. MBD expects to be fundraising for both of these strategies in 2020, as growing AUM in MBD is a key pillar of growth for GS broadly.

This position will work directly with Managing Directors, Vice Presidents and Senior Associates as part of small teams (3-4 investment professionals) that are responsible for the sourcing, diligence, acquisition, structuring and execution of investment opportunities and monitoring/ management of existing portfolio companies. Program Associates receive a diverse experience and are staffed across all energy and infrastructure sub-sectors.
