Work Schedule: 40 hours per week (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Duties: Associate with Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in Jersey City, NJ. Analysis of fund and separate account asset and sales activity for the determination of correct AUS reporting for the Investment Management Division Controllers team, including:  reviewing legal documents for new funds and separate accounts, understanding timing of closures and wind-downs and reviewing various events such as fund distributions and side pockets and client restructures; validating information, confirming attributions for books and records processing and preparing data files for system uploads; communicating as part of a global team and participating in global conference calls; engaging in ad hoc spreadsheet analysis; and participating in technological developments associated with changes or upgrades to systematic flows to ensure conformity with reporting requirements. Validate projected results through exception report review, and mathematical variance analyses at various micro intersections, as well as at a macro level, which requires: remaining in frequent communication with subject matter experts that could yield adjustments to be posted before the asset and sales dataset can be finalized and locked for reporting; and ensuring that controls are maintained throughout the process and that evidence is retained to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley and audit requirements. Prepare reports to satisfy Financial, Regulatory (SOX, SEC, etc.), Business (Quantitative Investment Strategies and Credit Alternatives management reporting, as well as portions of Fixed Income) and IMD Controller requirements. Must be willing to work with proprietary tools, systems and processes, but no prior knowledge required.

 

Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, Economics. Employer will accept single degree or any combination of degrees/certifications and/or professional experience that are equivalent to a U.S. Bachelor’s degree. Two (2) years of experience in the job offered or in a related position. Must have two (2) years of experience with: AUS Reporting, including the application of firm AUS policy, review of legal documents, understanding of various vehicles such as mutual funds, alternative funds, separate accounts; US GAAP with regards to revenues, expenses, receivables and accruals; Variance Analysis, including the ability to identify the drivers of period-over-period changes in data; Computer expertise, including experience with Essbase and Excel. Excel functions should include Pivot Tables, vlookup, SUMIF, filters, and sorting; Finance knowledge, including knowledge of the asset management industry trends and legislation; Communication skills, including experience presenting to senior management, leading calls and meetings, and explaining observable changes to data period-over-period; SOX-404, including experience with control infrastructure, performing control risk assessments and making control framework recommendations; and Experience working with internal and external auditors.
