Operations Specialist with Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in New York, NY.


Work Schedule: 40 hours per week (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)


Duties: Operations Specialist with Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in New York, NY. Rely on knowledge of internally developed processes and procedures relating to trades executed in physical commodities in order to assess the validity of complex information entered in the Firm’s proprietary risk systems and work with Sales, Trading, Legal, and other internal teams to ensure accuracy. Support the creation and review of bespoke physical commodities contracts on a daily basis across multiple products including Natural Gas, Base Metals, Electricity, and Oil. Ensure trade economics are properly captured on the legal document(s) necessary to execute the trade, and that trade economics details match precisely between said document(s) and SecDb, the Firm’s internal risk system. Perform several essential functions for the team, including risk management, automation, model preparation, and commodities trade assessment. Evaluate the settlement amount of trades, prepare models that reflect expected payments in Excel, and compare results of the trade economics produced by SecDb to ensure accuracy of risk bookings. Must be willing to work with internal proprietary software and technologies, but no prior knowledge required.


Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or equivalent) in Finance, Business Administration or an Engineering discipline. Four (4) years of experience in the job offered or in a related financial services operations position. Must include four (4) years of experience with: Utilize operations tools and technologies specifically developed for financial services firm operations; Knowledge of trade booking reviews; Utilize product-specific knowledge to build Excel Models; Subject-matter expertise in validating trade information (including asset class- and region-specific trade information), streamlining essential reporting, and knowledge sharing; and Identify process flaws and propose solutions to maximize efficiency. Must have experience with: Application of subject matter expertise across physical commodities products trading and financing, including natural gas, base metals, electricity and oil; and Utilizing advanced understanding of Natural Gas Tariffs and FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) filings, deadlines, and electricity scheduling windows.
