Systematic Market Making

Systematic Market Making is a team of traders and engineers who work together. We develop models to explain market behavior and predict price movement. We write algorithms that execute efficiently in complex markets. We build systems that are scalable and resilient so that they are there when our clients need them. Credit Portfolio Trading

Candidates joining the Credit Portfolio Trading desk are engaged in market making in US Investment Grade and High Yield credit products via baskets of multiple bonds. Portfolio trading represents a growing share of the US IG and HY credit markets, and is an area in which GS is currently a market leader.

 

Team members combine their mathematical, programming, market expertise, and understanding of client needs to provide principal liquidity to our clients. Your role as a trader who codes will, as the name implies, be a hybrid of trading, quant, and engineering work.

 

The desk looks for individuals with strong mathematical skillsets, programming experience, strong interpersonal skills, and who are motivated to get hands on experience with systematic trading.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL

You Will:

  • Work with sales team to source portfolios and to customize portfolios for clients
  • Automate common desk workflows, streamline trading process
  • Make quantitative improvements to existing trading strategies
  • Help push into new asset classes
  • Improve existing trading efforts
  • Manage desk risk

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters in a STEM area
  • Programming experience in C++, Java, or Python

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior trading or sales experience
  • Knowledge of Credit products
