RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

The Legal Department plays an essential role in the formulation and implementation of the strategy of Goldman Sachs. The advice and counsel we provide to all areas of the firm is critical to maintaining our commitments to our clients, regulators, and shareholders and to promoting our culture of excellence and integrity. Our goal is to provide legal advice that protects the firm's financial well-being and reputation, and assists our various businesses in evaluating the risks associated with completing transactions and other activities. This individual will cover the Private Wealth Management business, including a full service brokerage and investment advisory business, offering a range of products, including margin, underwritings, structured notes, special investments, investment advice, managed accounts, trust services and a dedicated website. Attorneys are responsible for keeping current with legal/regulatory developments, drafting policies and procedures, supporting regional offices by answering questions from compliance, investment professionals, regional managers, operations and technology staff. This individual will also work with business management in developing new products and service offerings in compliance with regulatory and business requirements. The ideal candidate will have general securities or broker-dealer regulatory experience, with at least 5 years in a large law firm.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate Investment Management Agreements for the institutional client services business within PWM
  • Support the Apex family office client coverage business,
  • Provide broad coverage to specfic PWM offices, including advice on compliance, technology, operations, errors, and regulatory inquiries.
  • Remain current with regulatory changes and developments
  • Update account agreements and Reg BI disclosures                                                   
  • Work closely with legal counterparts in litigation, ERISA, global markets and investment banking to provide advice on a variety of securities related matters
  • Provide business coverage to the Goldman Sachs Philanthropy Fund
