The Insurance team is an independent risk management function that sits within Corporate Treasury.  The Insurance Team’s mission is to support active risk management across the firm and its goal is to risk transfer via insurance products to mitigate the firm’s operational risk exposures globally.  The Insurance team manages property, casualty and management liability insurance on behalf of the firm and its various businesses. The Associate role is for an insurance professional with subject matter expertise in claims management with responsibility to execute the firm’s claims recovery strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Primary Responsibilities

 

  • Lead claims management process for the firm’s corporate exposures as well as for the asset management, commodities and real estate businesses
  • Responsible for end-to-end claims recovery process for all programs, including property, general liability, directors & officers, professional liability, employment practices liability, and cybersecurity
  • Engage with internal stakeholders, brokers, insurers and third-party administrators
  • Monitor litigation landscape and external claim trends to work with the broader insurance team and brokers to advise on policy contract enhancements
  • Educate internal stakeholders on claims reporting responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the global operational risk team to evaluate the firm’s operational risks and new activities to work through hypothetical claims scenarios and expected insurance response
  • Review GS claims trends, track and monitor losses

 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in insurance claims management (e.g. in house risk management team, broker or insurance company)
  • Bachelors degree required
  • Global financial institution / asset management firm experience preferred
  • Strategic thinker willing to challenge the status quo and think creatively about insurance products
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to collaborate with and influence colleagues and external insurance stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to present to senior stakeholders with impact and influence
  • Enthusiastic, intellectually curious and desire to understand the different areas of the firm
  • Strong organizational skills with experience working to deadlines in a highly dynamic environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to present to senior stakeholders with impact and influence 
  • Proven track record in stakeholder management including exposure to senior stakeholders
  • Enthusiastic, intellectually curious and desire to understand the different areas of the firm
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong delivery focus
