BUSINESS OVERVIEW

Goldman Sachs’ private markets secondaries business, located in the Asset Management Division, is one of the largest principal secondary investors in the world, having raised more than $40 billion of third-party committed capital since its inception over 20 years ago.  The business, which manages the Vintage Funds, buys interests in existing private market funds from investors seeking early liquidity and works with private market sponsors to offer liquidity options to their investors through transactions like continuation funds, tender offers, etc. The business invests globally across all sectors of the private markets.  With dedicated capital for diversified secondaries, non-traditional secondaries, real estate secondaries and infrastructure secondaries, the Goldman Sachs secondaries business is one of the most diversified platforms in the market.  The team is currently investing Vintage VIII, a $10.3 billion diversified secondaries fund, Vintage Real Estate Partners II, a $2.75 billion real estate-focused secondary fund, as well as additional capital dedicated to various secondary strategies.  The team operates primarily from offices in New York, London, Hong Kong, Singapore, Salt Lake City, San Francisco and West Palm Beach.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct due diligence and evaluate secondary private equity transactions, with a specific focus on fundamental asset-level valuation within diversified private equity portfolios; single asset opportunities, as well as co-investment opportunities across a broad range of private equity deal types and sectors
  • Develop materials and present investment opportunities to the Investment Committee through written and oral presentations, and conduct required follow-up analysis
  • Coordinate the execution of investments across all deal types, including working closely with internal (e.g., internal counsel, compliance, risk and liquidity management) and external parties (e.g., private equity managers, external counsel)
  • Monitor the performance and risk profile of existing portfolio investments

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in Corporate Finance/M&A/Leverage Finance/Private Equity/Other Private or Public Markets Investing
  • Sound investment judgment and outstanding numerical, analytical and valuation skills for the purpose of assessing investment opportunities
  • Strong presentation, communication and negotiation skills enabling the candidate to make robust recommendations to the Investment Committee and interact effectively with third parties
  • Excellent time, people and project management skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
