The Risk Division aims to effectively identify, monitor, evaluate, and manage the firm’s financial and non-financial risks in support of the firm’s Risk Appetite Statement and the firm’s strategic plan. The Enterprise Risk Management team is responsible for ensuring that the firm’s risks are managed systemically, such that the firm has a regular, comprehensive view of its risk profile as well as of key trends and emerging risks that could potentially affect the firm’s overall risk profile.

The team ensures that Risk & Divisional leadership is consistently informed on the holistic risk profile, inclusive of financial and non-financial risks, in a way that facilitates strategic planning and risk decision making. ERM interfaces with a wide array of businesses and risk management groups across the Firm. The cross-disciplinary nature of the projects that the ERM team engages in makes for a rewarding and multifaceted work environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Engage with the allocation of risk capacity and limit setting in accordance with the Firm’s risk appetite statement, reflecting business priorities and transactional opportunities.
  • Engage with businesses as part of Firmwide Business Planning Process and ensure compliance of businesses’ growth plan with the Firm’s strategic plan and limits approved by the Risk Division
  • Develop a comprehensive view of the Firm’s risk profile by identifying material risks of the Firm and assessing those risks quantitatively and qualitatively
  • Build Data analytical and Visualization tools to inform Risk limit allocations, enable granular data driven risk analysis, and offer quantitative analysis to leadership for consideration
  • Perform time-series analysis, statistical modeling on risk metrics and market data to extract information relevant for gaining insight into risk profiles, trends and vulnerabilities
  • Prepare materials that clearly communicate Risk Appetite and Business Planning related analyses to a variety of audiences, including the Board and senior management.  This analysis will provide both high-level conclusions as well as appropriate technical details.

 

Experience/skills required:

 

  • In-depth knowledge of risk metrics (including VaR and Stress test) across asset classes and financial instruments
  • Prior experience in Enterprise Risk, Limits calibration and Business Planning  roles preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with prior experience in communicating complex risk management issues in effective manner to Sr. Management
  • Statistical techniques including empirical and regression testing and applying them to various types of financial data to extract insights related to key risks.
  • Programming experience in an object oriented programming language and retrieving and manipulating data for analysis and reporting (Python , R , Tableau etc.)
  • High level of attention to detail, project management, and prioritization skills key in balancing daily deadlines with timely implementation of strategic projects
