RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

The Leveraged Finance Senior Credit Analyst will be an integral part of GSAM's High Yield & Bank Loan team. The Analyst will be responsible for analyzing credits across a number of industries in an important sector, performing due diligence, modeling financials and presenting recommendations to desk heads. Ongoing maintenance research will entail monitoring assigned coverage list credits and assessing risk vs return relative value opportunities across a broad range of portfolio strategies.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Establishing an analytical framework for the Healthcare sector and associated industries
  • Analyzing high yield and leveraged loan issuers across the Healthcare sector, via financial modeling, accounting review, interaction with management teams and sell-side analysts, and the assessment of management communications and third-party research
  • Assessing the relative value of bond and loan investment opportunities through the analysis and interpretation of sector trends, market drivers, regulatory risks, issuer strengths/weaknesses, capital structure considerations, financial projections, comparative company analysis, and legal/covenant structure considerations
  • Recommending investments across a range of portfolios (e.g. differing risk appetites, restrictions on currencies/countries) and updating/defending recommendations in both oral and written communication with Investment Committee teams
  • Performing ongoing due diligence and monitoring of portfolio positions and key credits in those industries, and communicating updates in a timely fashion (orally and in writing)

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5-7+ years' experience analyzing Healthcare companies across the High Yield and/or Leveraged Loan markets
  • credit analysis inclusive of covenant and capital structure drivers
  • Sound accounting knowledge, strong financial modeling skills, and keen knowledge of capital structure
  • Experience in stressed/distressed and credit workouts a positive
  • Strong social skills and willingness to work in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)
  • CFA study (at any level) a plus
  • MBA a plus
