Brokerage Operations Specialist – Corporate Actions

Operations is currently seeking a dynamic individual to put our clients first as part of our Corporate Action Team.  The Corporate Actions Team is responsible for managing and controlling high levels of risk and liability inherent in the various functions and processing of mandatory and voluntary corporate actions. 


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support and facilitate all aspects of processing complex/high volume mandatory and voluntary corporate action events.  This includes but is not limited to exchanges, consents, tenders, rights, stock splits, mergers, spin-offs, and conversions.
  • Daily interpretation and notification of corporate action events as well as the reconcilement, monitoring, submission of instructions, and posting of entitlements to the books and records.
  • Will work on multiple systems and applications to perform corporate action tasks. This includes announcement validation, client instructions management and posting cash and security transactions.
  • Perform daily reconciliations for cash, security, and suspense transactions as well as adhering to established policies and procedures, responsible for responding to client (internal and external) inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Manage inbound internal and external inquiries (cases) through our tasks management system, Salesforce.  Adhere to established turnaround times and goals
  • Use appropriate judgement to escalate risk situations and exception requests against firms’ policies and procedures and own the resolution communication to impacted parties and stakeholders
  • Consistently create an improved operating environment by proactively identifying and escalating control gaps and proposing and instituting best practices and tools to be more efficient and effective
  • Collaboration with Operations, Client Services, and Technology Management groups across firm to ensure deliverables are met
  • Participate and contribute in firm-wide and departmental value-add projects and present findings to leadership and other stakeholders as needed


Skills and Experience (Qualifications)

  • Strong understanding of financial markets and investment products
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including compiling datasets and identifying anomalies/trends.
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, and can work independently in setting priorities and consistently meeting deadlines
  • Strong level of attention to detail and proven ability to work under pressure with multiple priorities and a sense of urgency
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment and interact with all levels of the organization
  • Strong computer skills, including extensive experience in MS Office, with intermediate to advance level in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed



  • 1-2 years of experience performing corporate actions duties for a buy/sell side asset manager
  • In-depth knowledge of voluntary & mandatory corporate action lifecycle concepts and best practices.  Including impact of taxable and non-taxable transaction processing
  • Skills utilizing DTC (Depository Trust Company) & Corporate Action Web Application
  • Experience with security master setups and using data service providers, such as IDC (Interactive Data)


Education and Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree required; major in accounting, finance, economics, or business is preferred
  • FINRA Series 7 license, or desire to obtain within first 6 months of hire date
    • FOLIO will sponsor and pay for Series 7 licensing
