Duties: Extended Managing Director with Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in New York, NY. Detect investing opportunities in emerging market fixed income and emerging market currencies within global private wealth management group. Develop views on short-term and long-term direction of local interest rates, currencies and hard dollar debt of global emerging market countries. Monitor and interpret political, economic and financial market development in major emerging market countries using thorough understanding of economic and political dynamics in China, the US, and Western Europe. Identify, quantify, and value political and economic risks to develop and execute optimal hedging strategies. Develop frameworks to identify optimal financial instruments to express views on the global economy and individual emerging economies. Guide the group’s tactical asset allocation strategy in global emerging market debt and currencies. Formulate specific trade ideas and views, communicating them to the business and to clients. Maintain network of policy makers, government officials, and investors across various emerging economies.
Job Requirements: Master’s degree (US or foreign equivalent) in Economics or Finance. Minimum nine (9) years of experience required in the job offered or a related role. Requires nine (9) years of experience with: Investing in fixed income markets and currency markets from a long and short perspective; analyzing and formulating public policy across emerging economies; investing and studying previous financial crises; applying advanced macroeconomics, including debt sustainability analysis, inflation and growth forecasting, credit rating models, and flow of funds; applying quantitative financial methods, including fixed income asset pricing, derivative pricing, and exchange rate valuation models, to manage risk in financial markets; identifying investment opportunities in emerging markets in Asia, Europe, Latin America and Africa; and Government institutions and buy-side investing. Travel required 50% of the time to visit Latin American clientele and maintain network across emerging economies.
