Investor Relations works closely with Goldman Sachs senior management to shape the firm’s external messaging for research analysts, debt and equity investors, ESG analysts, proxy advisory firms, rating agencies and credit counterparts.  IR also liaises with key constituents internally to weigh in on key decisions around firmwide processes, strategy and disclosure.  This is a unique position that focuses on corporate governance and ESG engagement and allows candidates to develop expertise while gaining exposure to senior management, rating agencies, research analysts and key investors.  Candidates will work primarily on ESG matters, but will also have opportunities to work closely with all members of the group across our debt and equity, corporate governance and rating agency teams.


ESG / Corporate Governance

  • Engage with investors, rating agencies, proxy advisors and other ESG-focused external stakeholders through regular calls and meetings, as well as attendance at external events, on key ESG issues
  • Create presentations, analyses, talking points and briefing memos that address topics including GS’ governance profile, investor views, and peer governance trends
  • Develop deep understanding of Environmental, Social and Governance risks and opportunities; play integral role in creating the firm’s external messaging documents and ongoing enhancement of ESG reporting
  • Proactively research and monitor key issues and trends in corporate governance and sustainability through participation in webinars and conference calls, news monitoring, and industry analyses; disseminate key takeaways to the team on a real-time basis


Equity and Debt Investor Relations

  • Work with equity and debt investor relations team to effectively manage relationships with key constituents including GS senior management, sell-side research analysts and buy-side investors
  • Evaluate GS and global competitors from an investment and strategic perspective, examining both quantitative and qualitative factors
  • Develop specific expertise on multiple competitors, closely monitoring news, performance and investor presentations and proactively sharing information with the Investor Relations team and senior management
  • Prepare presentation materials for equity research conferences, senior business managers and investors
  • Work with internal teams across the firm to produce talking points and analytics on market or business related issues
  • Participate in firmwide due diligence with key business managers to stay abreast of company specific and industry trends




  • 3-5 years of industry experience in ESG- and governance-focused roles (Stewardship teams, ESG consultant, Legal, etc.), preferably including direct experience with financial institutions
  • Experience communicating with senior executives, clients, investors and/or external constituents
  • Strong judgement and decision-making ability
  • History of outstanding academic and professional achievement
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Broad awareness of current events, industry trends and regulatory environment
  • Ability to interact and build relationships with people across the firm at different levels of seniority
