Our core value is building strong relationships with our institutional clients, which include corporations, financial service providers, and fund managers. We help them buy and sell financial products on exchanges around the world, raise funding, and manage risk. This is a dynamic, entrepreneurial team with a passion for the markets, with individuals who thrive in fast-paced, changing environments and are energized by a bustling trading floor.

As a strategist who sits in the Global Markets Division, you will play an integral role on the trading floor. Throughout the Division, strategists are using quantitative analysis, market observations and technology to solve business problems.

The Global Markets Division builds strong relationships with our institutional clients, which include fund managers, corporations and financial service providers. We help them buy and sell financial products on exchanges around the world, raise funding, and manage risk. The Strats team performs quantitative and other analysis, utilizing tools, models and data to help facilitate these transactions. Our team includes experts in these areas and we work with Sales, Trading, Technology and other parts of the Division, and with clients.

You will help grow Goldman Sachs’ market share in our futures and listed options business. You are joining a small team of strategists, within the GS Strats community and a flagship FCM business (Futures Commission Merchant) alongside Prime Services and Sales & Trading. You have computer programming skills and basic quant finance knowledge, and are comfortable working with data and performing analyses for markets solutions. Your primary responsibilities will be working with the team to oversee our existing processes and analytics, creating content and building new things that differentiate us from our competitors, and working with internal partners and external clients of the business. You thrive in an environment where you are working on a mix of daily tasks and strategic projects, and interfacing with others and close to the markets.

·         Undergraduate or post-graduate degree (e.g. MFE or technical science): basic quant finance skills with familiarity or knowledge in time-series/regression, statistics, data science or futures & options pricing.

·         Object-oriented programming skills (e.g. Python, Java, C++) and technological proficiency.

·         Some industry & product knowledge or experience with futures & options, how they’re used by investors and some familiarity with systematic strategies.

·         Ability to be self-starting and create content: some fixed income/macro markets knowledge or experience, and the basic price & derivative markets (i.e. curve, funding & volatility) of global bond, equity index and major commodity futures are relevant for this role.

·         Clear communication skills (written and verbal) and critical thinking, general interest and enthusiasm to learn and contribute.
