Our goal is to provide legal advice that protects the firm’s financial well-being and reputation, and assists our various businesses in evaluating the risks associated with completing transactions and other activities. This individual will cover the Wealth Management business with specific focus as described below supporting the GS Trust companies. The Private Wealth Management business includes a full service brokerage and investment advisory business, offering a range of products, including margin, underwritings, structured notes, special investments, investment advice, managed accounts, trust services and a dedicated website as well as bank loans and deposits. Attorneys are generally responsible for keeping current with legal/regulatory developments, drafting policies and procedures, supporting regional offices by answering questions from business management, compliance, investment professionals, regional managers, operations and technology staff. This individual will also work specifically with Trust company management in developing new products and service offerings in compliance with regulatory and business requirements. The ideal candidate will have trust law experience, advising either fiduciary trust companies or individuals seeking trust services, with at least 5 years in a large law firm.
This role will be to primarily support the GS Trust Company, an OCC regulated national trust company, and the Trust Company of Delaware, a Delaware state regulated subsidiary. Working closely with the business team supporting the trust companies as well as lawyers supporting the broader Private Wealth Management business, the candidate will provide support regarding matters involving trust law, acquisition and maintenance of new trust business, analysis of trust and securities law issues associated with trust clients, support of products and services offered to trust clients and governance of the trust legal entities, including participation in and support of the various governing committees. The candidate may also provide some support to the Private Wealth Management business.
