Duties: Vice President with Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in New York, NY. Vice President role within the Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities (FICC) Structuring Market Strat – Emerging Markets group, which develops independent analysis, trade ideas, and automated trading strategies for the Firm and its clients, while building complex models and electronic trading tools, to help explain market behavior and predict price movement. Develop a series of quantitative models to asses key valuation metrics in Emerging Market (EM) equity, rates, currency, and credit markets, including developing valuation models for basis curves, cross currency curves, interest rate swap curves, credit default swap curves, cash bond curves, real effective exchange rates (REER), and equities multiples; developing empirical models to predict and give insight to market behavior in the Latin American rates, foreign exchange (FX), and credit markets, using both proprietary and publicly available flow data; and designing and developing advanced algorithms encompassing flow, market, and historical data. Work closely with trading and trading strats to determine how the residual risk to the Firm can best be hedged, including the risk by tenor bucket on multiple curves. Code/program within the Firm systems in order to automate pricing and reports to enhance automation of the business. Work directly with traders to implement specific inventory (risk) position, indirectly managing the exposure in terms of entry levels, stops, and levels at which to exit trades recommended. Utilize the models and metrics developed to overlay on qualitative views on a range of Emerging Markets to develop actionable, analytically-sound, and balanced trade ideas. Develop systematic strategies to track positioning in EM rates, currencies, credit, and equities involving the use of proprietary flow data, third-party data providers on flows and positions, historical performance analysis. Perform fundamental credit and trading technical analysis for Latin America. Analyze macro-fundamental data from local and international data sources in order to ascertain Balance of Payments vulnerabilities, risk of sudden stops, debt sustainability, and economic growth trajectories. Create unique metrics/indices/indicators to track economic imbalances and compare against current market pricing dynamics to ascertain investment opportunities in EM rates, currencies, credit, and equities. Work directly with the Firm’s salespeople to analyze exposure, structure transactions, and explain quantitative concepts to clients. Work directly with sales to market the content developed directly to the Firm’s clients globally.
Job Requirements: Master’s or bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Financial Mathematics, Financial Engineering, or related field. Minimum three (3) years of experience with a Master’s or five (5) years with a Bachelor’s in the job offered or in a related role. Prior experience must include three (3) years with a master’s or five (5) years with a bachelor’s: Performing financial modelling and pricing of derivatives to ensure prices and analytics are written correctly and valid numbers produced; working with Object-oriented programming tools, such as Matlab or Excel VBA, to design efficient infrastructure and flexible data models; developing tools, models and analytics to support delta one and derivatives trading; applying basic Macroconomics knowledge, especially to developing countries; trading experience in Emerging Markets rates, Foreign Exchange, and credit markets; working with Latin American financial markets, including cash and derivative instruments in the larger economies; analyzing country balance sheets and debt metrics; and utilizing subjective ad model-driven inputs to generate clear and concise trade ideas in Emerging Markets. Travel (internationally and domestically) to conduct due diligence in emerging market countries and to see clients in major business centers across the globe.
