Overview of Role

As a key element of its sourcing and investment strategy, GSG has developed a best-in-class proprietary technology platform, Catalyst, which leverages public and private datasets and advanced data and analytics techniques to derive competitive advantage.  GSG is seeking a Data Product Lead to drive the definition, design, and development of the evolution of Catalyst.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Product design: Imagine a transformative vision for the next generation of the product which leverages innovative data and technology capabilities to deliver competitive advantage in the sourcing and investment process
  • Product requirement Collect product requirements from key stakeholders including investment teams, technology leadership and others and incorporate within overall product design
  • Manage roadmap: Working closely with the engineering team, translate product vision and requirements into a product roadmap and engineering plan, including prioritization of features, bug fixes, new capabilities, etc.
  • Manage roll-out: Lead product roll-out and communications with the investing team (demos, periodical updates, etc.)
  • User feedback: Coordinate with UX & dev teams to distill product feedback
  • Metrics: Implement and evaluate key metrics to measure the usage and impact of the Catalyst platform to drive investment and product decisions
  • Vendor management: Scope out potential data sources and vendors that would be complimentary to Catalyst. Negotiate vendor licenses and pricing. Coordinate with development team on the integration of data sets / vendors.
  • Budget: Manage Catalyst budget

 

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will have led product development for an investment sourcing/research/due diligence platform for a VC, Growth Equity, Buyout, or other Investor or for a technology/data product or service provider serving a comparable client base
  • Proven ability to apply cutting-edge technology and data/analytics tools to drive improved investment outcomes
  • Able to translate a strategic vision into practical project roadmap and oversee development and implementation
  • Experience with BI, CRM, data integration, database, private equity market data platforms (ex. Pitchbook, CBInsights) and relevant datasets
  • Strong familiarity with software development processes and methodologies – i.e. agile product management, requirements definition, software development lifecycle, test, etc.
  • Prior experience as a software engineer is a plus
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Able to communicate and collaborate effectively across senior leadership, investment teams, software developers and UX, internal engineering teams and vendors
  • Commercial mindset and understanding of sourcing and investment process
