Operations is a dynamic, multi-faceted division that partners with all parts of the firm to provide banking, securities, and asset management services to clients around the world. In addition, Operations provides essential risk management and controls to preserve and enhance the firm's assets and its reputation. For every new product launched and every trade executed, it is Operations that develops and manages the processes and controls that enable business flow.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

YOUR IMPACT

You are looking to join a fast-paced, dynamic team that has broad connectivity across the firm for a franchise critical process. You will collaborate with Cross-Federation teams to manage the firm’s retail cash payments and receipts each day. You have a strong desire to contribute your cash management and retail transactions experience to support our retail clients and manage business risks, as well as work closely with a network of key banks and internal payments team to ensure smooth execution.  

 

OUR IMPACT

Treasury Services is a sub-division of Corporate Treasury and Operations. We provide payment processing, liquidity, cash management and bank relationship management services for our institutional, retail, and corporate clients as well as firmwide flows.

 

The sub division has a rare opportunity as an independent control to support Marcus by Goldman Sachs with electronic payments, ACH, Lock box, check, wire, ACH risk management, settlement, clearing and ACH file monitoring in order to mitigate operational money movement risks.

 

Treasury Services has regional presence in Salt Lake City, Dallas, New York, London, Bengaluru, Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and many other offices working closely together.

 

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL

  • Understand the firm’s front-to-back consumer payments ecosystem
  • Develop a target operating model across existing and new consumer lines of business: checking, savings, lending, and cards.
  • Drive execution of target operating model in partnership with consumer, cross-functional, projects, and technology teams.
  • Optimize current processes to eliminate waste and be more scalable; process redesign; in order to achieve the team’s Objectives & Key Results (OKR)
  • Oversee a team of fifteen (15) associates & analysts locally—team executes payment settlement functions (FedACH, FedWire, checks, SWIFT payment rails), performs payment monitoring, resolves break exceptions, and manages the accuracy of the firm’s books and records.
  • Develop and coach members of the team by providing real-time feedback and opportunities for progression.
  • Ability to navigate various situations, distill technical/specialized terminology into basic terms, to determine live risk(s) problem statement, size impact, and determine appropriate steps to mitigate adverse client, financial, regulatory, and/or reputational impact; analyze root cause, recommend tactical/strategic solutions and follow-through to remediate gaps or uplift controls
  • Partner and ability to navigate through a broad set of internal stakeholders (Marcus, Ledger Operations, Legal, Compliance) as well as external counterparts e.g. third-party vendors, banks, central bank, etc.; develop relationships
  • Influence new consumer business initiatives; onboard industry or regulatory requirements
  • Participate in recruitment, interviewing and recommendation of potential new hires to ensure adequate resources for managing the business risks.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification

  • General knowledge of payments, ACH, checks, wires, payment message formats

Desired Characteristics

  • Cash Management experience in a regulated banking environment, understanding of basic NACHA operating rules (returns, exception item processing), retail payment experience.
  • CTP or AAP or APRP designation preferred
  • 10 or above years of experience in a large & global financial institution
  • Adaptable/flexible: being open to change (positive or negative) in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances, and/or to work in ambiguous situations.
  • Knowledge of Federal Reserve products and services.
  • Previous experience working in cash management with FDIC regulated legal entities.
