About Goldman Sachs Marketing

Led by the firm’s first Chief Marketing Officer, the marketing function at Goldman Sachs is backed by momentum and a broad imperative to unify the discipline, helping to codify a business-critical function seen as core to the firm’s future growth. As such, GS is focused on building out a data-and-technology enabled team of growth marketers, delivering value for the brand and the business. The organization will consist of COE teams including Brand Marketing, Marketing Strategy & Transformation, Content, and Media, as well marketing teams for each of our revenue divisions. Together, this function will collaborate to build a unified, scalable, and consistent approach to marketing the brand and its offerings. Our mission is to be a demonstrable force multiplier for the businesses we serve.


About the Research & Analytics Team

The Goldman Sachs Research & Analytics (R&A) team is one of the COE groups within the Global Marketing organization. Our mission is to enable the firm to make data-driven decisions by providing actionable insights that drive business and commercial outcomes.  We consult with our partners in the firm’s business units (e.g. Consumer Wealth Management, Asset Management, Investment Banking, Global Markets, Executive Office, etc.) to understand key business questions and marketing objectives, and provide hands-on service to design qualitative and quantitative research to drive the business forward.


We are looking for excellent research professionals to work as part of our COE, with assigned coverage to one or more of our divisions. 



  • Plan, design and conduct primary research projects leveraging quantitative, qualitative and UX methods. Topics can include early-stage exploration, brand equity tracking, advertising and creative development and testing, customer satisfaction/NPS, concept testing, product and feature prioritization, usability, and more.
  • Work with product managers, marketing & creative partners project managers to develop research projects to drive business for existing products and identify opportunities for new product development and go-to-market strategy
  • Translate findings from research into concise, actionable insights that product and marketing can begin working on immediately
  • Advocate for “voice of the consumer” in product and design planning and brainstorming sessions


Basic Qualifications

  • 5-10 years’ experience in a market research role (quantitative, qualitative or ideally mixed methods experience)
  • Hands-on experience conducting market research, e.g., writing and programming surveys, analyzing data, conducting focus groups/IDIs/UX research.
  • Combination of intuitive, creative, curious and analytical mindset
  • Natural ability to connect with and establish rapport with different personalities (both respondents and co-workers)
  • Proactive, team player with strong interpersonal skills and positive energy
  • Strong leadership abilities, with skill in leading through influence and positive examples as well as direct management of teams
  • Entrepreneurial and an inventive problem solver; curious and passionate about all areas of marketing, media, content, and design
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a dynamic fast-paced environment that requires exceptional attention to detail
  • 4-year college degree


Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred experience in financial services and/or demonstrated knowledge of relevant business areas
  • Expertise or familiarity with advanced/multivariate research methods (conjoint, segmentation) a plus.
  • Proven track record of working with and inspiring product managers and designers in a digital/online space
  • Preference for working in a fast-paced, agile, high-performance culture
  • Experience using Qualtrics. Knowledge of R for statistical analysis a plus
