RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

About Global Marketing

Led by the firm’s first Chief Marketing Officer, the marketing function at Goldman Sachs is backed by momentum and a broad imperative to unify the discipline, helping to codify a business-critical function seen as core to the firm’s future growth. As such, Goldman Sachs is focused on building out a data-and-technology enabled team of growth marketers, delivering value for the brand and the business. The organization will consist of a number of key COE roles in areas such as Brand, Media, Content, and Marketing Strategy, as well as marketing leads for each of our revenue divisions. Together, this team will collaborate to build a unified, scalable, and consistent approach to marketing the brand and its offerings. Our mission is to be a demonstrable force multiplier for the businesses we serve

Within Global Marketing sits the Content group, which is charged with representing Goldman Sachs to the public. They do this by:

  • Driving the full lifecycle of content for the firm, including strategy and planning, publishing, distribution, analytics, measurement and technology
  • Developing improved governance to ensure content is built for purpose, and can be leveraged across our full array of audiences and channels
  • Incubating new content formats and products while seeking new ways to reach and engage different audiences
  • Collaborating with content creators and editors-in-chief across the firm, uniting our commitment to innovation and experimentation in one of our greatest assets, our thought leadership and insights

Role Summary:

The Vice President, Content Development and Innovation will be responsible for the ideation and implementation of new content products and distribution strategies across our divisions globally. This dynamic, entrepreneurial individual will help lead new content innovation, with an eye toward producing, housing, re-purposing and distributing content across all digital and physical touchpoints. They will be collaborative, creative, analytic, and user-centric, with a proven track record as a content product marketer reaching high-value audiences and growing a prominent brand. They will work alongside a best-in-class leadership team and report to the Global Head of Content.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead go-to-market strategy, from ideation to launch, for new, best-in-class content products and features
  • Align new content opportunities with audience/distribution strategies that support firm-wide and divisional priorities.
  • Identify optimal distribution tactics and be an expert in new platforms to best reach targeted, high-impact audiences.
  • Build scalable, repeatable, measurable, and audience-led content products: build core competencies and playbooks that can be efficiently deployed across several projects. Not everything needs (or should) start from scratch. Establish and measure success criteria.
  • Partner with teams including paid media, social, and channel planning to ensure team-wide collaboration and be sure content aligns with intended audiences, marketing strategies, and standards.
  • Contribute a well-rounded and diverse sense of what’s possible to each project. Pushing content ideas to be modern, distinct, but always with the end user in mind.
  • Collaborate with technical experts in audio, video, infographics and other media to provide creative vision to their execution (while respecting their creative input as well)
  • Be a leader, working within the team as a key partner in ideation and refinement and helping to shape the future of the content marketing at the firm

Position Qualifications:

  • 8+ years developing creative projects and content products in news/media, agency, or brand
  • Deep understanding of content/product development lifecycle and how to operate within a matrixed marketing organization
  • Knowledge of business, finance, thought leadership, and global economic environment preferred but not essential
  • Customer-centric mentality and understanding of user experience
  • Ability to balance creative and conceptual thinking
  • A data-driven, performance-oriented mindset is required
  • Ability to distill essential insights from research and create clear, actionable briefs
  • Demonstrated experience managing large-scale productions, complex projects, and large teams with a broad range of skills, experiences and tools
  • Proactive, team player with strong interpersonal skills and positive energy
  • Entrepreneurial and an inventive problem solver; curious and passionate about all areas of marketing, media, content, and design
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a dynamic fast-paced environment that requires exceptional attention to detail
