EXECUTIVE OFFICE

 

The Executive Office plays an integral role in setting and advancing Goldman Sachs’ corporate strategy, and in preserving the firm’s distinctive culture. We are responsible for safeguarding the firm’s relationship with alumni, clients, shareholders, policy makers, and the broader public, while ensuring that our own people remain informed about the firm’s evolving priorities. We also partner with the businesses to source high-impact opportunities in line with the firm’s social and sustainability agendas.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

The Sustainable Finance Group is tasked with developing Goldman Sachs’ climate transition and inclusive growth strategies and delivering sustainable finance expertise and capabilities across the firm’s divisions and clients. Specific responsibilities include: 

  • Work closely with the Global Head of Climate Strategy to set strategy for and deliver upon sustainability reporting objectives that increase our impact and elevate our brand with key stakeholders
  • Craft key strategic messages and content for our key sustainability-related reports including:
  • The firm’s annual sustainability report released in the spring each year (a 5-6 month process of development, vetting and amplification)
  • Our climate-related disclosure including our Taskforce on Climate Related Financial Disclosure (TCFD) report
  • Inaugural sustainability bond reporting (to be released annually)
  • Ongoing additional reporting related priorities (for example, ongoing progress towards our net zero financing commitments)
  • Develop and execute upon detailed project timelines, deliverables, and regular postings and updates for each report issued by the firm (see above)
  • Work seamlessly across the firm’s divisions and regions and as appropriate with external consultants to advance our sustainability reporting objectives – this includes:
  • Regular touch points with businesses and teams who contribute data and content to our sustainability reporting
  • Working closely with our Global Marketing and Communications team on the amplification of our key messages and related reporting
  • Lead the extensive review of various climate and sustainability related reports with which the firm is involved but doesn’t publish directly, including our work with key external partners with whom we work to advance global climate goals
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve and advance  our approach by active engagement in our sustainability efforts, conducting annual benchmarking, and evaluating industry and market best practices on corporate reporting and impact
  • Support the head of climate strategy in advising clients and other stakeholders on our insights and best practices on reporting and disclosure
  • Prepare periodic updates for senior management on our progress towards sustainability-related goals 
  • Partner with our businesses, corporate communications and investor relations to manage engagement and responses to ESG related surveys and awards 

 

Qualifications:

  • Deep subject matter expertise in sustainability / climate strategy in a finance, strategy, or analytical consulting role and a demonstrated desire to learn, develop and grow quickly
  • Excellent writing skills, including 3-5 years of work experience in an editorial or writing specific role
  • Senior level experience in project management and strong organizational skills, including attention to detail
  • Excellent judgment, initiative and discretion in making decisions; ability to evaluate proposals and think strategically
  • Proven stakeholder management skills, including the ability to work collaboratively in a team and proactively cultivate relationships with a diverse range of internal and external partners
  • Strong initiative, entrepreneurial spirit and ability to think creatively
