The Alternative Investments & Manager Selection Group ("AIMS" or the "Group") resides within AMD ("Asset Management Division") and is Goldman Sachs' dedicated manager selection business, covering solutions across private equity, real estate, credit/fixed income, ESG integrated and impact strategies, public equity, and hedge funds. We manage globally diversified programs, targeted sector-specific strategies, customized portfolios, and a range of advisory services. Our investors generally access opportunities through new fund commitments, secondary market investments, co-investments, seed capital investments, investment manager equity/ revenue share stakes, or fund of fund solutions. The AIMS Group is one of the world's broadest, deepest, and longest-standing "open-architecture" programs, investing or advising on over $250bn.


AIMS Imprint is the ESG and impact investment group in AIMS with a mandate to build and manage client portfolios that generate market rate returns and tangible environmental and/or social impact. AIMS Imprint invests across public and private markets through third party managers and co-investments alongside managers. The investment strategy spans asset classes including private equity, real assets, private credit, public equity, fixed income and hedge funds. AIMS Imprint specializes in nine private market investment themes including Clean Energy, Sustainable Transport, Education, Health, Financial Inclusion, Food & Agriculture, Waste & Materials, Ecosystem Services and Communities. Imprint was founded in 2008 and acquired by Goldman Sachs in 2015, as part of the firm’s commitment to ESG and impact investing.


AIMS is seeking a senior business development lead to oversee the Group’s ESG efforts including new product development, prospective and ongoing client engagement, and internal management.


Principal Responsibilities:

  • Drive business growth execution across all aspects of AIMS’ ESG business
  • Lead fundraising efforts across ESG strategies
  • Scope ESG needs across AIMS’ verticals and develop a phased implementation plan
  • Coordinate with sales and client functions to collect market feedback and integrate into product development and operational/IT functions
  • Work with operational, legal, and compliance functions to reduce time to market and solve for max scale potential
  • Develop business plan for institutional and private wealth channels, drive commercialization and scale of ESG products
  • Oversee ESG related RFPs across AIMS
  • Stay abreast of changing ESG related regulations and coordinate implementation of regulatory requirements across AIMS
  • Oversee ESG, impact and carbon reporting initiatives


Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum of 10 years of client strategy experience in asset management
  • Knowledgeable of and demonstrated interest in ESG
  • Strong communication skills to drive prospective and ongoing client interactions
  • Ability to map/prioritize commercial areas of focus
  • Strong throughput, judgment, and ability to digest viewpoints of multiple constituencies and drive to consensus
  • Ability to respond to wide variety of ESG inquiries from clients and internal stakeholders
  • Experience launching new investment products
  • Strong team player who will be seen and felt as value add by existing global team
  • Strong execution capabilities; willing to roll up sleeves and do the work
  • Excellent time, people and project management skills
