RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Alternatives Capital Markets & Strategy (ACMS) is a firmwide group established in 2019 to oversee all institutional capital markets, capital raising, and strategy for alternative investments throughout Goldman Sachs.  Engaging with both Goldman Sachs’ proprietary direct-investing programs and external managers’ open-architecture strategies, the ACMS Group centrally manages capital raising for all alternatives products and portfolio solutions for all institutional investors in alternatives, across private equity, credit, real estate, infrastructure, growth equity, secondaries, GP stakes, impact investing, and absolute-return strategies.

The Co-Investment Team within AMD Private coordinates the syndication of co-investment opportunities to the division’s key investor base, enabling these clients to invest alongside Goldman Sachs in private investments across all major asset classes.  In addition, the Co-Investment Team plays a significant role in the structuring of the firm’s investments, working with the investment deal teams and investor clients, as well as various functional areas within the firm and across divisions (Global Markets, IBD, PWM, etc.).

The work is deal and investor focused, allowing you access to a wide range of businesses, industries, investment structures and investor types.  You will follow the full life cycle of the deal execution process –getting involved with deal structuring, investor targeting, marketing of the investment to external clients, bookbuilding and allocation process, negotiation with investors on terms and economics, and coordination of funding and closing of the investment.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in structuring private equity and principal debt transactions – alongside investment deal teams - to address commercial, legal, accounting, tax and regulatory considerations for investor clients and GS.
  • Marketing investment opportunities to investor clients.
  • Preparing, organizing and maintaining deal-related marketing materials and analyses.
  • Working with investment deal teams to respond to deal related questions from investor clients.
  • Participate in syndication approval and investment allocation processes.
  • Assist with negotiating commercial and legal agreements with investor clients.
  • Coordinate with investment deals teams and execution teams to facilitate closing of syndication process.
  • Tracking of co-investment activity by deal and by investor; preparing analyses/updates on co-investor relationships and activity levels for senior AMD and firm leadership.
  • Prepare marketing and track record materials on the AMD co-investment platform and capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Ideally 4+ years of prior work experience in investment banking, alternative investments or fund raising, or a finance/accounting-based position.
  • Strong quantitative, writing, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of financial and credit analysis, valuation and primary fundamental research, and their application in investment decisions and transaction structuring is a plus.
  • Team player, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to multi-task, with an ability to manage multiple projects with different deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail orientation.
  • Advanced facility with Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • High degree of intellectual curiosity on alternative investing strategies, particularly the private markets.
