The Renewable Power Group (“RPG”) is a rapidly growing team which invests client capital in renewable energy assets, including solar, storage and wind. The team sits within Goldman Sachs Asset Management (“GSAM”) Credit Alternatives, a boutique investment platform with greater than $10 billion of investable capital.  RPG benefits from an experienced team of industry veterans and significant financial backing, which has resulted in meaningful growth since the team was founded in 2017. We have long-term plans to be among the world’s largest owners and operators of renewable energy assets. 



As the Manager of Tax Equity Modeling, your work contributes directly to the RPG’s success. The division is ideal for creative and collaborative individuals who have strong ethics and attention to detail.   • Maintain the tax equity IRR (Internal Rate of Return) tracking models, and related accounting models (under HLBV or Hypothetical Liquidation of Book Value), including onboarding new tax equity financings;
  • Consult on issues related to complex tax equity partnership structures, including HLBV calculations and the onboarding of new tax equity financings;
  • Prepare data to support the quarterly/annual financial statement audit process and the quarterly and annual requests from the internal tax group including, but not limited to the HLBV calculations;
  • Ensure compliance with all SOX responsibilities impacting HLBV calculations, including ensuring the effectiveness of controls design and operation, effectively documenting management review controls, and ensuring IPE standards are met
  • Interface with other support areas, including asset management, tax, financial reporting, regulatory controllers, fund accounting, and technical operations


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or related field required;
  • Background in renewable energy accounting is preferred;
  • Strong fundamental understanding of the Hypothetical Liquidation at Book Value (HLBV) method, including a theoretical understanding of why the method is used for GAAP reporting and what the resulting GAAP income allocations represent economically.
  • Working understanding of U.S. federal tax rules, including those associated with §704(b) partner capital accounts, §704(d) partner capital accounts, partner capital account basis adjustments (§734 / §743, investment tax credits, etc.), and MACRS depreciation;
  • Experience preparing and reviewing complex models in Excel;
  • Knowledge of a broad range of partnership tax matters;
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to deal effectively at all levels within the organization; and
