About Global Marketing

 

Led by the firm’s first Chief Marketing Officer, the marketing function at Goldman Sachs is backed by momentum and a broad imperative to unify the discipline, helping to codify a business-critical function seen as core to the firm’s future growth. As such, GS is focused on building out a data-and-technology enabled team of growth marketers, delivering value for the brand and the business. The organization will consist of a number of key COE roles in areas such as Brand, Media, Content, and Marketing Strategy, as well as marketing leads for each of our revenue divisions. Together, this team will collaborate to build a unified, scalable, and consistent approach to marketing the brand and its offerings. Our mission is to be a demonstrable force multiplier for the businesses we serve

Within Global Marketing sits the Content group, which is charged with representing Goldman Sachs to the public. They do this by:

  • Driving the full lifecycle of content for the firm, including strategy and planning, publishing, distribution, analytics, measurement and technology
  • Developing improved governance to ensure content is built for purpose, and can be leveraged across our full array of audiences and channels
  • Incubating new content formats and products while seeking new ways to reach and engage different audiences
  • Collaborating with content creators and editors-in-chief across the firm, uniting our commitment to innovation and experimentation in one of our greatest assets, our thought leadership and insights

Role Summary:

 

The Vice President, Editorial Director of Newsletter Strategy will be responsible for developing a comprehensive editorial strategy around a newsletter portfolio across our divisions globally. The ideal candidate is a dynamic, collaborative, creative, analytical and user-centric thinker who will play an essential leadership role within the Content Marketing organization. In this newly established role, you will help shape our firm-wide newsletter strategy, working closely with senior content producers and editors in chief across the firm to grow the Goldman Sachs brand and commercial objectives. You will work alongside a best-in-class leadership team and report to the Vice President, Content Development and Innovation.  

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead product strategy, growth and performance for all email and newsletter products across the firm
  • Responsible for acquisition, engagement and retention, with the goal of creating a best-in-class newsletter portfolio targeting high-value audiences
  • Work closely with editorial and content producers across the firm, as well as marketing and sales teams to support them in their commercial objectives
  • Build scalable, repeatable, measurable, and audience-led content products that provide an outstanding user experience
  • Be an expert in the newsletter space and stay on top of email trends and innovations.
  • Define, monitor and analyze key performance metrics and use this data to inform decision making
  • Own reporting on all relevant metrics and proactively deliver analytical reports to team leadership
  • Partner with teams including paid media, social, and channel planning to ensure team-wide collaboration and be sure content aligns with intended audiences, marketing strategies, and standards.
  • Be a leader, working within the team as a key partner in ideation and refinement and helping to shape the future of the content marketing at the firm

 

Position Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience working in email marketing or audience development in a news/media, agency, or brand environment
  • Expertise with enterprise-grade performance marketing technology
  • A data-drive mindset and experience with relevant content performance measurement tools
  • Ability to conducts a sophisticated analysis across a matrixed organization and present clear recommendations for a future-state strategy
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Knowledge of business, finance, thought leadership, and global economic environment a plus but not essential
  • Customer-centric mentality and understanding of user experience required
  • Proactive, team player with strong interpersonal skills and positive energy
  • Entrepreneurial and an inventive problem solver; curious and passionate about all areas of marketing, media, content, and design
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a dynamic fast-paced environment that requires exceptional attention to detail
