RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Sustainable Investing Group Overview

The Sustainable Investing Group is an investing group that sits within the Asset Management Division of Goldman Sachs. The Group focuses on environment and climate transition themes where we have observed significant secular demand and growth opportunity. The group specializes in fundamental value analysis and focuses on leveraging its deep knowledge of both the industry and fundamental valuation techniques to create attractive risk adjusted returns for both third party capital and Goldman Sachs balance sheet.

 

Job Summary & Responsibilities

The Natural Capital team within the Sustainable Investing Group is focused on identifying and executing investment opportunities globally within the sustainable agriculture, forestry and farmland sectors. The analyst will be part of a small but growing team responsible for the acquisition and management of investments and will be involved in a wide range of high-profile transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Building and refining complex financial models
  • Screening sustainable investments
  • Undertaking significant due diligence responsibilities
  • Participating in investment approval process
  • Helping develop, research and evaluate investment themes
  • Reviewing and analyzing investment opportunities
  • Participating in structuring, negotiating and documenting investments
  • Building relationships with management teams and partners
  • Helping monitor and manage existing investments and portfolio companies

Qualifications

  • Outstanding academic and professional record
  • One or two years of valuation or investment experience
  • Financial analysis/modeling experience
  • Strong analytical/technical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Ability to self-direct, analyze and evaluate and form independent judgments
  • Investment acumen
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Enthusiasm for sustainability, climate and the environment; relevant sector experience a plus but not required
