Led by the firm’s first Chief Marketing Officer, the marketing function at Goldman Sachs is backed by momentum and a broad imperative to unify the discipline, helping to codify a business-critical function seen as core to the firm’s future growth. As such, GS is focused on building out a data-and-technology enabled team of growth marketers, delivering value for the brand and the business. The organization will consist of COE teams including Brand Marketing, Marketing Strategy & Transformation, Content, and Media, as well marketing teams for each of our revenue divisions. Together, this function will collaborate to build a unified, scalable, and consistent approach to marketing the brand and its offerings. Our mission is to be a demonstrable force multiplier for the businesses we serve.


The Brand Marketing group is responsible for managing the external facing brand of Goldman Sachs and creating content that explains our businesses, the work we do for clients, the impact we have on our communities, and our unique and collaborative culture. With a focus on building brand and driving commercial growth, we partner across our revenue divisions on integrated marketing campaigns. We create content and campaigns distributed across goldmansachs.com, social media, paid media, sponsored content hubs, and other platforms to key audiences of importance to the firm’s reputation, commercial objectives, and recruiting goals. As such, our team also manages the firm’s presence on social media (Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube) and the GS.com website.


As the Vice President of Financial Tech Marketing for Goldman Sachs, you will work directly with the MD of Brand Marketing to shape the firm’s external brand for a range of audiences including developers, clients, and engineering recruits. As Goldman Sachs becomes increasingly digital-led and focused on leading the financial tech space—across our products, platforms, services, and talent needs—this important role will lead from a marketing perspective.


This role sits within the new Goldman Sachs CMO organization, and will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and user researchers in all four of our revenue divisions as well as with our Core Engineering leadership team. The role is highly visible and requires a strong communicator and strategist, with deep expertise with the tech and developer audience, and who can think cross-functionally.


Specifically, you will help craft the value proposition for our diverse developer community and our growing Financial Cloud Platform. You will aim to drive a full-funnel experience and engage developers to build innovative and high quality experiences using APIs on developer.gs.com. As an internal advocate for the needs of our developer ecosystem, you will be informed about the product landscape, our users' needs, and our qual and quant research, and will become the go-to marketing expert to help shape the product roadmap, strategy, and narrative.


As well, you will play a marketing manager role in collaboration with our divisions to market our flagship platforms, including work we are doing with a number of banking-as-a-service offerings in both our consumer and institutional client segments. In this capacity, you will partner with cross-divisional revenue leaders, engineer teams, and developer relations to craft messaging and develop marketing plans with the aim of driving adoption and cross-sell.  


Lastly, you’ll partner with our employer brand team to think specifically about engineers as an increasingly important target audience for our recruiting efforts. We aim to showcase the firm’s culture of innovation, collaboration, and inclusion for top tech talent looking to make a difference in their work. This may manifest itself in all touchpoints including events and conferences – both virtual and in-person.


You will be responsible for:


  • Embedding a culture of “Customer Obsession” We need to ensure that all our work starts from deeply understanding the beliefs and needs of the end customer.
  • Shaping the offer. Working with counterparts in Goldman Sachs Engineering, Revenue Divisions, Communications and Marketing to define the positioning of Goldman Sachs in the Developer space
  • Developing powerful and unique idea platforms for launches, initiatives and developer experiences.
  • Execute Brilliantly. Great brands are made of up a hundred “nice little touches”. This leader will need to bring provable experience of executing with exquisite craft across multiple touchpoints- from inspiring candidate hiring experiences to CX/ UX decisions on developer.gs.com
  • Measure what Matters- Define and manage the key success metrics for all activity and then optimize activity based on learnings.



  • 10+ years of result oriented experience within developer marketing, product marketing, product management
  • Experience working across the product lifecycle and go-to-market initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience partnering closely with product, developer relations, and other cross-functional teams in a highly matrixed organization
  • Excellent communications, including writing and public speaking
  • Passion for innovative software technology
  • Experience working in technology, infrastructure, or platform companies is preferred





Industry Expertise

  • Demonstrated experience marketing to developers as an audience
  • Preferred in-house experience in brand marketing with a significant digital focus or agency side working on a technology of software client. Fluency across award-winning brand creativity and results focused performance marketing


Functional Expertise

  • 15+ years in brand management or product marketing roles with 5+ years in a leadership capacity
  • Development of breakthrough (ideally Award-winning) Brand Platforms and Executions with proven availability to extend to all consumer touchpoints
  • Experience in full-funnel digital or performance marketing campaign execution a significant plus
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams of in-house and external agency partners to develop holistic campaigns across channels in multiple geographic regions


Management Experience

  • Drives consensus and momentum across multiple teams internally, including senior Divisional leads
  • A key member of the executive marketing team helping to shape the overall strategy and direction of the brand
  • Ability to lead multiple agencies and external stakeholders to drive alignment and momentum
  • Experience managing matrixed organizations with dual reporting structures and joint accountability between Centralized Marketing and Divisional stakeholders
